Joyce Ann Johnson was born on November 6, 1955 in Nassawadox, Virginia to the late George and Virginia Johnson. On Monday, March 12, 2018, our beloved one, Joyce, was called home to rest by her Heavenly Father.
Joyce gave her life to her Lord and Savior at an early at New Allen Memorial AME Church. She served on the Pastor’s Aide, choir, and Usher Board. She graduated from Northampton County Public Schools and later attended the Eastern Shore Community College, where she graduated with certifications in Early Childhood Education, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing & Coding Specialist, and Certified Nurse Assistant. She was also inducted into the International Honor Society.
Joyce was employed by Northampton County Public Schools for many of years. She worked in Special Education, working with children that had severe behaviors and intellectual disabilities, and also as a school bus driver. She was on several school related committees and served as president on some. Joyce was employed by the Exmore and Nassawadox Fire and Rescue Squad as an EMT. She was also employed by Heritage Hall as a C.N.A. prior to her medical conditions, which lead her to retirement.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Johnson; a sister, Laura Hudson; and nephew, Jason Johnson. They are greatly missed.
Joyce leaves to cherish loving memories: her only daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Melfa, VA; three grandchildren, Jessica Johnson and Jasmine Byrd, both of Norfolk, VA and Joseph Byrd of Princess Anne, MD; one great-grandson, Ja’sean West of Norfolk, VA; one god-granddaughter, Andrea Johnson; three god-great-grandchildren, Mya Johnson, Imani Roane, and Sanaa Johnson, all of Salisbury, MD; two sisters and five brothers, Mary A White, Louise Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Clifford Johnson, all of the Eastern Shore of VA, Robert L. Johnson of Trenton, NJ, George (Glenda) Johnson of Seaford, DE, and Charles Johnson of Felton, DE; a special sister, Donna (Reginald) Bailey of Melfa, VA; special friends for decades, Michael Jackson, Cecil Watts, Jermaine Abbott, Cynthia Pyron, and Robert Johnson; as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
