Obituary for Lena Mae Miller

Lena Mae Miller
Lena Mae Conner Miller was born on April 26, 1930 to the late Edward and Esther Conner in Atlantic, Virginia. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 9, 2018 in Salisbury, Maryland.

Lena Mae received her education in the Accomack County Public Schools. She received Christ at an early age at Friendship United Methodist Church in Wattsville, Virginia. She served on the Usher Board for many years.

Lena Mae was joined in holy matrimony to Herman Miller and they shared sixty-eight years together until God called her home.

She was employed as a factory worker at Paramount, P & L, and Holly Farms (now Tyson Foods). Later in life, she became a bus driver for Accomack County Public Schools. She later retired from NASA Wallops Flight Facility, where she worked in the cafeteria.

Lena Mae was known for her famous corn pudding, as well as her Sunday morning specialties, sweet rice and macaroni and cheese. She enjoyed playing solitaire and watching her favorite game show, Family Fued with Steve Harvey. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her husband, Herman a.k.a. “Smiley” and her grandchildren. She treated everyone she met like family and always offered them something to eat.

Lena Mae was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ada Miller; brother, Herbert Conner; and sister, Grace Conner.

Left to carry on her legacy are five generations including: her husband, Herman Miller; three daughters, Sherrye (James) Copes of Wattsville, VA, Sylvia (Thomas) Wallop of Smyrna, DE, and Veronica Miller of Wilmington, DE; four sons, Herman G. Miller and Kenneth Miller, both of Wattsville, VA, Anthony (Tia) Miller of Princess Anne, MD, and Troy Miller of Richmond, VA; two stepsons, Quince (Sabrina) Lankford of Salisbury, MD and Arnold (Teresa) Lankford of Silver Springs, MD; two special granddaughters, whom she had a special bond with, Denise (Maurice) Baynard of Smyrna, DE and Tonya Cropper of Atlanta, GA; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-seven great, grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alton (Hilda) Conner of Pocomoke, MD and Edward Conner of Wattsville, VA; one sister, Elizabeth Harmon of Millsboro, DE; two brothers-in-law, William Miller of Atlantic, VA and Paul Miller of Salisbury, MD; two sisters-in-law, Helen Miller of Baltimore, MD and Catherine Townsend of Hallwood, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
