Ethel Mae Walker entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 23, 2017, surrounded by her loving, devoted family and friends by her bedside at her home in Melfa, Virginia. Ethel was born on May 31, 1930 to the late Carey and Priscilla Finney.
Ethel was educated in the Public Schools of Accomack County.
Ethel was married to the late Hoover Walker in 1951. This union was blessed with eleven children, with a son, Sherwood, preceding her in death.
Ethel accepted Christ and joined Gaskins Chapel AME Church. She worked numerous jobs, Redwood Gables, Act III, Baylis Nursery, and the greatest job of all, caring for her family.
Ethel had a BIG heart for all, to know her was to love her. She would converse with anyone whether she knew them or not.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and siblings, Carey, Eva, Elizabeth, Bert, and Tyrone. Left to cherish her fond memories are five daughters, Valerie Finney, Sadie Kellam, Teresa (Johnny) Harris, Esther (Erwin) Milbourne, and Pamela (Mervin) Smith; five sons, Laverne (Connie) Finney, Wayne (Ojetta) Finney, Elwood (Ann) Finney, Timothy (Arnaldina) Finney, and Rod (Shonta) Walker; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; one sister, Mabel Gaskins; two brothers, Lafayette Finney and Harry (Honey) Finney; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
