Rochelle Loretta Bailey, was born on June 29, 1955 to Constance Roberts and the late Upshur Boggs in Onancock, Virginia. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 and entered into everlasting life with Jesus Christ.
Rochelle, who was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Mama” and to others as “Ro” or ”Chelle,” was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools. She was also known for her sharp dressing and her makeup was always laid. Rochelle loved to shop, spend time with family, and cook her famous dish, corn pudding. Another hobby Rochelle had was working. She was employed at Perdue Farms for over twenty-five years and was later employed by the Accomack County School system until illness prevented her from working. However, illness did not change Rochelle’s love for God. He was first in her life and her faith in God never wavered. She would watch Charles Stanley Ministries and take notes to help fight her strong fight of cancer for over fifteen years. Until her last breath, she continued to smile every chance she could.
Rochelle leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Constance Roberts of Onancock, VA; son, Sherwood Bailey Jr. of Greenbush, VA; daughter Tara (Clarence Jr.) Harmon of Parksley, VA; one grandson Kentrel (Frances) Bailey of Painter, VA; three granddaughters Taranique Bailey and Ciara Harmon both of Parksley, VA and Shernequa Bailey of Jamesville, VA; two great grandsons, Caden and Carter; two great granddaughters Amaya and Kaylee; one brother, Kenneth (Penny) Tyler of Bloxom, VA; three sisters, Debbie Duffy of Gargatha, VA, Letisha Rowley of Onancock, VA and Ann Tyler of Newark, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her father Upshur Boggs; two brothers, Roosevelt and Claude Tyler; one sister, Charlotte Anderson; and a young man that she had taken in as her grandson, Brian Davis.
Rochelle will be greatly missed and was loved by many.
