Ethel Marie Croswell Davis Jackson, was born on January 31, 1935 in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Marion Marie Croswell Milbourne and Palestine Copes. On Friday, March 3, 2017 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia, she departed this life and entered into eternal rest.
Ethel received her education in the Accomack County Public Schools. At an early age she accepted Christ and attended church in Withams, Virginia. She later married and left the Shore, living in various places, such as South Africa, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Maryland.
When she relocated to the Shore, Ethel worked for Perdue Farms for numerous years until her retirement. It was there she was fondly called “Big Red,” by her coworkers. Ethel then joined the congregation at New Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke, Maryland.
On November 9, 1982, she married James Jackson, Jr., whom she shared thirty-four years of marriage, until his passing on February 18, 2017.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alonzo, Johnny, and Welton; sisters, Nancy, Elsie Mae, Ilene, Leah, Bernice, and Louise; and husband, James Jackson, Jr.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memories: her sisters, Audrey (Johnnie) Parker of Philadelphia, PA, Alene (Virgi) Copes-Reynolds of Pocomoke, MD, and Barbara King of Princess Anne, MD; brother, Donald (Catherine) Milbourne of Pocomoke, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
