James Jackson, Jr. was born on June 16, 1931 in Withams, Virginia to the late Mildred Taylor Jackson and James Jackson, Sr. He departed this life on February 18, 2017 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Virginia.
James was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He later joined the United States Army, where he served for three years. After his discharge from the army James joined the workforce. He worked for Kelly Canning Company in New Church for several years and then Franklin J. June Lumber Company in Snow Hill.
James was a member of Mt. Zion Independent Methodist Church in Withams, Virginia.
In November 9, 1982, he married Ethel Marie Davis and they shared thirty-four years of marriage. James was a very kind man and was a friend to all. He enjoyed fishing and smoking his pipe. He would often be found reminiscing with friends about the “good ole days.”
James leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Ethel Jackson; five brothers, Willie (Theresa) Jackson, Leon (Betty) Jackson, Richard Lee (Delores) Jackson, Edward Jackson, and Henry Jackson; four sisters-in-law, Carmen Jackson, Audrey (Johnny) Parker, Alene (Virgil) Reynolds, and Barbara King; and a host of other relatives and friends.
